Time to begin planning for their retirement, the owners of the Ramaela started their worldwide search for a true passage making yacht several years ago. Retirement for them was a live aboard yacht that could travel comfortably anywhere in the world. Finding that trawler was closer and easier than they imagined. Hiring Naval Architect Robert (Bob) Johnston and employing the services of Custom Steel Boats, Inc., their plans turned into reality and the conception of Ramaela was born. As with any project that requires true craftsmanship, much planning and precise workmanship went into the development of Ramaela, resulting in a harmony of all of the elements that it safe, sturdy, comfortable, beautiful, and capable of crossing any oceans with fuel to spare. Built in 2002 by Custom Steel Boats, the 65’ “Ramaela” has logged over 24,000 nautical miles including voyages to South America, Canada, through the Panama Canal to Costa Rica, and Alaska, but she still maintains her hailing port as Merritt, North Carolina. The owners have found with these long voyages that they require additional crew. Subsequently, they have decided to place the 65' on the market and construct a new 85’ “Ramaela” with ample crew quarters on board.

Much thought and attention to detail went into the interior design. The yacht includes a spacious and light-filled saloon, a full galley with a granite serving counter, and a comfortable eating area for eight. The lower level of the ship contains three staterooms, three complete heads, a fully equipped utility room, and ample storage. The master stateroom has a king sized bed with seating area, and master head with a whirlpool tub. The forward queen VIP contains a private ensuite head. The third stateroom is a complete office with a double berth including an extra fold out single bed.

The vessel is rugged with 3/8” steel plates on the sides, double bottom, and a 3” steel keel. The fly bridge provides an opportunity to pilot from outside in warm weather and maneuver with 360-degree visibility. The painting and exterior finishes of Ramaela are of the highest quality.
